Selection Stages

The AFCAT selection process involves multiple stages, each designed to test different skills and aptitudes.

Written Test

The first stage is the written test (AFCAT and EKT), which assesses the candidate’s knowledge in various subjects.

AFSB Interview

Candidates who clear the written test are called for the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview. This stage is further divided into:

  1. Stage I: Screening test, including Officer Intelligence Rating Test and Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP&DT).
  2. Stage II: Psychological tests, Group Tests, and Personal Interview.

Medical Examination

Candidates who pass the AFSB interview undergo a thorough medical examination to ensure they meet the medical standards required for the Air Force.

Final Merit List

The final selection is based on the performance in the AFCAT written test, AFSB interview, and medical examination. The merit list is prepared, and candidates are allotted branches based on their preference and merit ranking.

Preparation Tips

Effective preparation is key to succeeding in the AFCAT 2024 exam. Here are some tips to help candidates excel:

Understand the Syllabus

Familiarize yourself with the detailed syllabus for AFCAT and EKT. Focus on topics that are frequently asked in the exam.

Create a Study Plan

Develop a study plan that covers all subjects and allows for regular revision. Allocate more time to weaker subjects and practice regularly.

Practice Previous Papers

Solve previous years’ AFCAT question papers and sample papers to get an idea of the exam pattern and difficulty level.

Take Mock Tests

Regularly take mock tests to measure your preparation and improve time management skills. Analyze your performance and work on areas that need improvement.

Stay Updated

Keep yourself updated with current affairs, especially topics related to defense, sports, and international events. This will help in the General Awareness section.

Physical Fitness

Maintain good physical fitness as it is essential for the AFSB interview and medical examination.
