Introduction

The UPSC CAPF 2024 exam, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, offers a prestigious opportunity for candidates aspiring to become Assistant Commandants in India’s Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). This year, the notification announced a total of 506 vacancies across various paramilitary forces, including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB. The selection process includes a Written Examination, Physical Standards/ Medical Standards Tests, and Interview/Personality Test. Starting with written examination scheduled for 04th August 2024. Subsequently, successful candidates proceed to physical efficiency tests/ medical standards assessments, and interview/personality tests.

Understanding What is CAPF?

CAPF, or Central Armed Police Forces, encompasses seven paramilitary forces in India responsible for maintaining internal security and law enforcement. These forces include the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Assam Rifles (AR) and National Security Guard (NSG). CAPF has not released vacancies for Assam Rifles (AR) and National Security Guard (NSG) in this notification.

CAPF Exam Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for CAPF exam include age and educational qualifications.

CAPF 2024 age limit

Candidates must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years on 1st August 2023 to be eligible for the CAPF exam. This means that applicants must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1998 and not later than 1st August 2003 to qualify for the exam. However, certain relaxations are available for candidates belonging to specific categories. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to five years, while Other Backward Classes candidates can avail of a relaxation of up to three years. Additionally, Civilian Central Government Servants and Ex-Servicemen can also benefit from a relaxation of up to five years, subject to specific conditions outlined by the Central Government. These age relaxations aim to provide fair opportunities for candidates from different backgrounds to participate in the CAPF exam.

CAPF Educational qualification

Candidates applying for the UPSC CAPF exam must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institution. The degree must be conferred by a university incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or it must be from an institution declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. Additionally, candidates who are in their final year of their degree program are eligible to apply, but they must be able to submit their final year mark sheet during the application process.

  • Carrying angle should not exceed 15˚ for males and 20˚ for females.
  • Ear health: Candidates must not have any degree of deafness or persistent ear discharge, and they should not have conditions like atresia of the meatus or neoplasms causing obstruction of the ear passage.
  • Nose: condition should not have disorders like DNS, atrophic rhinitis, or chronic sinusitis.
  • Neck health should exhibit no signs of enlargement, inability to extend fully, or evidence of spinal disease.
  • Dental health requires a sufficient number of sound teeth for efficient mastication, with no severe pyorrhea.
  • Candidates should not exhibit active signs of clinical venereal disease or chronic skin diseases like leprosy or psoriasis.

 

CAPF AC Nationality

Candidates must be citizens of India, as per the guidelines set by the Central Government. However, exceptions are made for subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, provided they obtain written consent from the Central Government.

What is CAPF exam language and syllabus?

UPSC CAPF exam is conducted in both English and Hindi languages, offering candidates the flexibility to choose their preferred medium of communication.

Paper I, which covers General Ability and Intelligence, consists of objective-type questions available in both English and Hindi.

Similarly, Paper II includes General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension components, with candidates having the option to write the essay in either English or Hindi.

However, it’s important to note that the medium for Precis Writing, Comprehension Components, and other language skills remains English only.

Candidates must stick strictly to the language guidelines specified by the Commission to avoid disqualification.

Moreover, candidates need to indicate their chosen language medium for the essay component during the exam registration process.

CAPF Application Fee

The application fee varies based on the candidate’s category. General and OBC male candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 200, while female and SC/ST candidates are exempt from paying any application fee. This fee structure ensures equitable access to the examination process while also providing necessary financial support to candidates from marginalized communities.

04th August 2024 is the CAPF AC Exam Date and the timing of exam is for Paper I 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm, and Paper II from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Yes paper 1 and paper 2 are held in same day but important thing that you must remember is, The Commission will set separate minimum qualifying marks for each paper and Paper I is qualifying; Paper II is checked only for those who clear Paper I.
